The painting above, My Sisters and Me, is very personal. As one of five girls, I get strength from this group of women who have known me and sustained me throughout all of my life. They are the inspiration for many of the female figures present in my work.

A friend asked if I would consider doing a commission piece of her and her daughters inspired by my painting. She has strong bonds with the women in her family and said the painting really moved her. It was the first time I began to realize my art could impact others. Until now, this has been a journey for my own healing and hope. Stepping outside of myself and painting for others has brought a new level of healing into my life. It is a huge step to come out of my private grief and to share my art on this website as a way to tell my story. Once again, my sisters have sustained me and inspired me to move forward.
